The Commerce Department reported new home sales rose 5.7% in September from the previous month to the highest rate in more than two years as the housing market continued to surge.
The nation's home builders sold houses at an annual rate of 389,000 in
September. That was an increase of 5.7% from August
and 27% more than last September. It was the highest level since April
2010 when a federal home buyer tax credit boosted sales
